Hum / Shrill Sound

After driving my 02, the engine makes a loud humming sound. Ford said it was the AC being on MAX and equalizing as it is around 116 Heat Index. I have turned the AC off a couple of blocks from the house and it still does it. All gages are good and the fluids are fine as well. Any ideas?

can you get it to go away or change with more or less throttle?

What happens if you don't use the A/C at all?
