former 78 owner
I sold my '78 4x4 automatic about 4 years ago. I miss the old truck and am thinking of gettin another one. I was also considering maybe looking for a 4x2 model older than '78, but I like the pwr steering and brakes of the '78. About how old can I go and still have a good chance of finding the pwr steering and/or brakes? Thanks for any info.

I have a "late" built 77 (10/77) with PS&PB and factory air. Basically its a 78 its got a married xfer case.
I believe if you get a early 77 you could have PS design issues/problems, but I have read both opinions on it in here.
The FTE classifieds on here have a pretty good selection, IMO, and Craigslist is always a route to go.
