High boy rear spring question
How many leafs are there usually in the rear spring assembly on 73-77.5 Highboys? Mine has 11 per side if you count the stubby one at the very bottom, and someone recently told me that wasn't stock.

Someone was running my Highboy as a wrecker before I bought it... 13 leaves. By the time I bought it, It had a normal box on it again, and you better believe it was rough. The thing would chatter across the road if I hit the right bumps.
Now I'm down to 9, but may go up again once I put a utility body on the back.

You might think it wouldn't spring wrap and hop with all those leaves but mine does really bad, really easily. Just getting my minivan unstuck last winter out in front of the house made it seem like I was hooked to a pulling sled on a bad pull. Frankly I was dissapointed that it had a hard time pulling the van out and that it hopped like that. The minivan was only in about 6" of snow.
For the record, my 16 year old boy drove the van into the soft stuff on the edge of the road.

Highboy's don't have coil springs anywhere but in their motors. Leaf springs at all four corners.

I re-did mine last year and plowed snow all winter. No problems at all.

I'm pretty sure the f150 4x4 front springs are taller.
