today I was checking over my 96 psd and could smell fuel.found that there is fuel on top of the intake looks like there are rubber hose there.anybody know what size they are? I can't seem to find anything at the parts store without knowing the size. looks like they go to the fuel pump.i dryed it up and started it and ran for like 20 mins and there was verry little fuel there then drove about 162 miles and now it about a 1/4'' deep
When you refer to the top of the intake are you talking about the valley between the heads? I can't think of any fuel lines other than what go to and come from the HPOP and the fuel filter area.
yes in the valley. im thinking its coming from the two blue rubber hoses that I can see but cant see were they go i think there hooked to the fuel pump. didant have time to take it all apart today.looks like someone been in there becouse they have the scew type hose clamp on them
Could be anything from the fuel restriction sensor / relay to the fuel pump. The sensor is prone to leaking. Driver side of the fuel / water separator attached to fuel pressure regulator or FPR.
Before ya start tearing everything apart ya gotta take a couple of baby steps. It'll save ya a bunch of headaches down the road.
First get some Simple Green, Brake Cleaner, etc and spray the valley of death with the stuff. Then take mucho paper towels and really mop and clean the whole valley squeaky clean.
Then get a GOOD & BRIGHT flashlight and a Clear Mirror. Start your truck and go on the hunt for the leak. Take your time, you'll find it. Look at those hoses, go further back towards the rear of the pump. There is a weep hole that tattle tales a failing pump, take a good look at that 11/4 nut/bolt that is on the rear of the pump, it's a leaker for sure. Follow the hard lines to the rear of the heads. for leaks.
Check around the driver's side of the fuel filter paying close attention to the two (2) sensors, they leak alot. Check all of the lines going to and from the HPOP.
Well after cleaning one more time did the mirror thing still dont see it. so I drove to my shop about 15 miles still no sign of leak and grabed my boroscope still no sign.so i drove down the interstate about 60 miles and pulled over and checked with the scope and found a drip on the fuel filter housing.so took the housing off and found a hair line crack. gess it itme for a new one.dam my 88 is so much easer to work on
There are a couple of members that have extra fuel bowls for sale as they upgraded to an electric system. Ya might want to query the forum! New bowls are expensive.
