Windshield Wipers

The wipers finally quit working on my old truck that gets me to work and back. If I remember right the motor made a slight grinding noise sometimes but they worked. I rarely drive in rain so I never paid much attention to it.

So my question is how do I know if its the motor, relay, or switch? The wipers are currently stuck upright and are trying to return to the down position.

Does this sound like the motor is shot?

So how does one get to the linkage portion undernearth the cowling? I almost have the electric motor off but can't get to the bolt on the other side.

once the motor is unbolted, pull it out as far as you can. then undo the nut. Its a pain in the ***. Or you can pull the cowl

Are you able to thread the bolt back in once you get the old one off?

i pulled the cowl and did it in about 20mins, you have to bend one of the tabs on the end of the cowl up then bend it back in place when you put it back on

How many bolts on the cowl? Is there bolts on the backside of it (like on the windshield side)?

I know there are two bolts on the corner of the that cowl piece... but there has to be more.

remove bottom windshield trim, screws in the holes on top, where wipers comr through, I think there's 4. then the ones under hood behind the gasket. radio antenna has to be seperated. easire to fight it through the hole.
