What you are seeing is the standard 2 speed transfer case with the floor shifter and the optional two speed transfer case with electronic shift on the fly on the dash. I don't know how long Ford has been offering the two different versions but I would say that all of this generation of trucks were available with either choice.
yeah...I had a 92 EB Bronco with the pushbutton dash mount and it worked about 85% of the time. I am sure that the newer stuff is more reliable.
But after that, I made a vow that I would always get the mechanical shift.
Found out that the mechanical shift was only available on the STX and below trim levels on the newer pickups. Of course, that also meant that you got the vinyl flooring, which is what I always thought a truck should have.
