So, I have a 2003 F-150 with a Ford keyless security system. Not sure if it's related but, I just recently added a new remote (from the dealer) and the automatic door locks stopped working. I like the auto door locks, feels safer with the kids. The auto door lock feature recently stopped working and I tried to reactivate it according to the directions in the manual. The procedure did not work at all. Does anyone have any ideas??? Not sure what other info is needed, so please ask.
Thanks,
Chip
Before following the procedure, make sure that the ignition is OFF and all vehicle doors are closed. You must complete steps 1-7 within 30 seconds or the procedure will have to be repeated. If the procedure needs to be repeated, you must wait 30 seconds. 1. Turn the ignition key to ON. 2. Press the power door unlock control three times. 3. Turn the ignition key from ON to OFF. 4. Press the power door unlock control three times. 5. Turn the ignition back to ON. The horn will chirp. 6. Press the unlock control, then press the lock control. The horn will chirp once if autolock was deactivated or twice (one short and one long chirp) if autolock was activated. 7. Turn the ignition to OFF. The horn will chirp once to confirm the
I would check the push button switch in the door jamb. They stick and give faulty door ajar alarms. Sticky switch may cause the autolock not to engage. Someone can correct me but I think they spray them with wd40 or some silicone lube to free them up. Maybe use some carb cleaner or brakeleen first.
My 2000 f150 has a delayed autolock on the passenger side. I had replaced that door lock once. I may have to remove the door panel to see if any spray lube will help it. I may be shooting in the dark here but it is a start. Could be dirty switch contacts somewhere or a intermittant relay starting to go bad.
Do the locks work allright with the remote and the switches on the doors? Any sluggish movement like you need to lube where the button slides?
