E4OD to AOD swap
I have a 1994 Ford F-150 2wd with a 300 inline 6 cylinder engine. I also have all the parts from a 86 F-150 4x4 to make the swap to a 4x4. Only problem is that the 94 has a E4OD 2wd transmission and the 86 has a C-6 4x4 transmission. I would like to keep an overdrive though. Any Suggestions? Maybe swap to an older AOD from another 4x4.

You may be able to get the tail-adaptor/tail shaft, if they used them like on the C-6 direct mount t-case, and the t-case you have was avaliable in both years. Might also check with Advanced Adapters or another drivetrain conversion specialty company, they may be able to advise what will work with what with minimal fuse/cost and most reliability, although, I do agree, unless your going to have that AOD built-up custom by someone who really knows all the weaknesses of the AOD's, and just as important-knows the proper upgrades for dependability, even then it may not be much better than the stock E4OD.
