buddys truck problems

ok my buddy has a 97 f350 2wd cc dually 5 speed with absolutely no mods his battery light has been coming on and he didnt drive his truck all night last night and went outside and checked under his hood this morning and his alternator was really hot to the touch without the truck bein run, does that mean that the alternator is toast or could there be a short somewhere

sounds like a short to me... you can always pull the alternator and have them test it on a bench at autozone for free

Yep, it may have a short without being run.

If its hot with it being off, that would mean there is a short.
Something is causing resistance on there, and heating it up.
