Parts missing

According to the ford parts computer I'm missing a couple of pad spreaders that I didn't know existed. My front end has been rattling since I got the X a year ago. I noticed the brakes making a squealing sound so I ordered the hawks. Installed them with the hardware that was on the truck. Apparently who ever changed brake pads last missed the spreaders, and the backing plates fell off. That was the squeal. I'm worried now that the backing plates might come the Hawk pads because of this movement.

My question is this. Those of you that have switched to the Hawk brand pads , do the pads have a hole in them for the spreader spring? If they do I'm going to ford tomorrow to order the caliper kits.

Fixed the rattle on the front end. Found all four brake pad spreader springs missing. Bought ford brake part kit # BRPK-5660. Pad attach kit. NoMo stinking rattle. Sounds soooo quite now. I love it. :-)>
