Problem with connector going into valve cover

Ok, so after listening to a few of you guys, I dove into my truck this evening. I have narrowed down my issue to the connector from the wiring harness to the valve cover, its got at least one wire that is not in the plug at all. I have seen that I can order the connector as a pig tail and will be doing that tomorrow but in the bundle there is also a bare wire, does anyone know where this goes??

I ohmed out all the glow plugs and uvch on that side and all but one of the glow plugs is good and the uvch reads good as well, lucky that their weren't any burned wires.

I am assuming that the uninsulated wire is normal as it is present on the rear connector on that side as well but it just concerned me a little.

Thanks to all again.

Jody, that wire is normal and we all have it. I really hate getting old because there was a thread just a few days ago where that wire is addressed and for the life of me I can't recall how the conversation went.

I had to replace all my VC wiring a few weeks ago and I had that wire. Just made sure it wasn't touching any other bare wire ends and wrapped it up with electrical tape really good

If you need one GP. Go ahead and get a full set of ZD-11's. This winter you will thank yourself because you did it when it was warm outside.
