Enjoy your new home and beware of the crazy guys from CT, MA and NH. They will try to corrupt you.
I like to consider myself an avid outdoorsmen, but lately ive been super busy with work, and helping inlaws. I like firearms, I have a small collection, that is used on a regular basis. I like to fish, even though im not that good at. I enjoy riding bikes, and wheelers, but at the moment im kinda in between machines.
Well Ok I took the first step, whos next, lets get to know ourselves, then plan a get together!
Moved here from Toronto Canada in summer 98 for Husky Injection Molding, to set up the high tolerance vertical milling machine section and train people for 3 yrs. Was asked to stay after the 3 yrs and given a green card. Still training people here in CNC Programming as well as others in Husky's Luxembourg facility in Europe.
Bought our 2000 V10 X when she was 1.5yrs old from G Stone in Middlebury. 29,000 on it, now 85,000. We've had a yr here and there with only 4k on it. It was Todd and his dad's personal vehicle. He told us he had to get it from a dealer down south when they first came out because he wanted one right away and couldn't get delivery for himself. I guess first deliveries went by sales volumes. Shortly after putting that info together, I realized that having an early model - Dec. 99 build date - wasn't anything to be proud of. It's a Limited, missing a bunch of the Limited stuff. No reverse sensors, no fog/road lamps.
Tossed around the idea of selling her a few times and almost did once, but glad we didn't. Great to have around when family visits for outings.
Not happy with performance for a while. I guess the 3.73 gears aren't meant for towing a 32' camper, but what I really need explained is why when towing, I can find a sweet spot with that V10 and climb grades in O/D with next to no throttle and then loose that sweet spot on the flat after the hill, and be in 2nd gear screaming at 4500rpm up the next hill. I hate computers. I completely understand the gearing aspect, but if it can find the grunt with no effort sometime, why can't it find it other times, and why should I change the gearing if it is in fact capable of blowing you away with performance sporadically.
Need to do the exhaust manifold repair (last yr really). Looking to go the Thorley header route. Need to replace the rear bumper (wife) (re the no-reverse sensors). Just a crease but I don't like it. Have a new Ford one sitting in the garage waiting patiently. Did the Bilstein shocks. Huge difference. Should put a Helwig sway bar on the back, just haven't got to it yet. Had it undercoated in Canada twice when new(er). Not that thick crap (Rusty Jones?) that clogs your body panel drains and screws up your grounds. thin film similar to what some steel operations use to keep bare metal from rusting. I can sell the stuff to a blind man - Vermont truck, no rust. Same as our 97 Town Car with 150k on it.
Yep, lets get a few more people on here and get together and share experiences. I'm in for camping, not sure if that works for everyone. Maybe a camprground with a large day use area and shelter.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I just picked up a 1988 F150 in a trade for some guns I hadn't been shooting much any more. It has a 302 5L V8 hooked up to a M5OD transmission. 169,000 miles on it. 3" body lift and rolling on 33's. It is definitely a project truck, but does have a current inspection, and I will have it re inspect-able in a couple weeks if all goes well.
I hope to get it reliable enough to be a daily driver, but only plan on using it to go to the shooting range, off road trails, or pick up old motorcycles/parts for my other projects. This is my first truck (and only second vehicle total).
