I drove my new V 10 (150 miles) hard for a little while and when I stopped I had some smoke coming off of the Cat. converter. It disapaited quickly after I stopped. is this something I should be overly concerned about or just oil burning off of the new metal?
Not to be sarcastic, but why would you drive your new V-10 with 150 miles "hard"? Yes, it was probably the cat's smoking because they are new. Be nice to your new truck.
Who knows what they spray the exhaust system with when it's manufactured, maybe something to keep it from rusting right away (mild stainless still gets rusty looking).
If it's smoke on the outside of the cat, it's just the cat getting hot and anything on it is burning (or curing). If it's an issue for a few thousand miles, I'd look more into it, but on a brand-new machine, not exactly uncalled for
Not trying to seem paranoid but how long would you expect this to continue. Did it again but not as bad. Thinking about climbing under there and taking a closer look
Bummer for the problem, hopefully it will be a easy and quick fix. Don't let this get you down. Take it back out after it's fixed and get the BSEG back.
Went to the dealer yesterday, mechanic reports fitting on transmission line is cracked. He stated he had seen this same thing on other Torqshift's as well. Damaged during build. Pick it back up today, had to wait on the part. Also had them realign the front end, thought it was tracking to the right a little. Get it back today. Thanks for all the help!
