Christmas in June!

Had both the brown man and the blue man come today, brown man brought me an Airdog and the blue man brought me the Garrett GTP38r from Mannie, I have to say this turbo looks brand new, I did'nt expect it to be this clean, as others who bought from him said, he was a stand up guy and a pleasure to do business with. I also got a very good price on it, needless to say I'm happy! My truck is getting spoiled lately. I know that I'm probably going to install either the Airdog this weekend or the turbo and bellowed up pipes, don't think that I could get it all done in one weekend. we'll see. I haven't figured out how to post pic's yet but am going to take pic's and get them into my computer and will get some up at some point.

No such thing as a stupid question, The Airdog is put out by a company called Pureflow Technologies, Inc.(pureflowtechnologies.com) It has a lift pump for pulling fuel out of the tank and feeding it to the frame mounted fuel pump, it also, at the same time, using a special filter/separator removes all the air from the fuel than sends it through a water/particulate filter. I'm on a mission to eliminate air from my fuel system and this gadget is supposed to be the ***** They are having a sale on them currently so I went for it.

So how much would one of these turbos run a fella and what would be the main benefits for a basically stock truck? Would this be the turbo to go with for someone with basically a stock truck? Just for future reference. Thanks

There are lots of things you should do before this turbo. Exhaust, gauges, intake, DP-TUNER, and a few supporting mods. Then if you plan on getting injectors, this turbo will be needed.

EDIT: Darn David, when you said stock truck, I thought you meant stock. You have the supporting mods for this turbo now. You should get a little more power, lower EGT.

From Garrett's website;
Stock turbo
210 whp @2700RPM
420 lb/ft torque 500 RPM

GTP38r Ball bearing
290 whp @3000 RPM
550 lb/ft torque 400 RPM

I would imagine Garrett got this from a dyno. From what I've read from those that have them the turbo spools up much quicker than stock and improves power throughout the RPM range in particular the lower range. New, I've seen prices from $1500.00 on the bay up to $2000.00 plus depending which dealer you choose, I got this one used, paid a good deal less. I'll let you know what I think after it is installed and my DP Tuner chip is back from Jody.

Dave,
As miller_feed said, you do have some of the supporting mods although I don't see 4" turbo back exhaust in your signature. If I'm reading the Garrett site correctly, the HP/torque gains listed above are from a bone stocker. If I'm wrong someone who knows will let us know.

So what exactly are the differences between the van turbo and the Garrett BB? What are the pros and cons of each?

Let us know about how you like the AirDog. Are you mounting inside the frame behind the transfer case or on the outside infront of the spring hanger?

PICS ARE A MUST!!!!!
