Personally, I haven't noticed a difference at all, although I'm not a "Premium" member.
There is still a 3-4 second delay after clicking a thread where the ad will be there and nothing else. So I sit and look at the Chevy ad on a Ford site (ironic?) while the page loads. What I've gotten in a habit of doing is opening threads in new tabs. While the tab is loading I scroll down the newer threads opeining in each a new tab. After I'm done, then I just peruse through the open tabs in my browser.
It is even slower than it was before. The top banner comes in quick, then the ads come in. The ads show up OK, but then it takes ages before the forum index shows, and then even longer before I can scroll the index. The whole agonizing process starts again as soon as I click on a topic.
Too bad really, because it's a great forum with knowledgeable people. I would spent more time here, but the long wait times are just too painful. I have no idea why this forum is so slow.
Other forums I use are no trouble at all. They load fast and operate quickly. I am on DSL, so connection speed is not a problem.
Yes, the website is faster now. For those of you who are not a supporter, you may want to consider becoming one for the following reasons:
1. You support the forum that you enjoy.
2. You surf faster because you don't have to wait for all of the banners to display.
3. The "Supporter" avitar looks cool!
with a few exceptions those who report a faster overall experience appear to be supporters.
I don't have a problem with two different membership levels and may become a supporter someday myself. I'm totally fine with even looking at ads as forums aren't free. I think it's "odd" how I have look at ads for a few seconds before the forums list magically appear.
