I have a 99 Expedition and when it's first started there is a knock that sounds like a piston or rod. I herd that Ford had some sort of recall for this problem, but my dealer is no help! Has anyone herd of this problem and/or recall?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-13-03 AT 05:39 PM (EST)]Depending on what engine you have, it may be piston slap. If you do a search in the Super and Heavy Duty forum for piston slap you will be able to get some good information. There were several threads talking about the 5.4L and the V10 having this problem. Some guys have even had their engines replaced under warranty, but from what I understand of the problem it is more of an annoyance, and doesn't damage your engine.
On edit: The search function isn't there right now, but if you browse through and look for piston slap in the title you will find it. It's a ways back in the posts, so it may take a while, but it is worthwile information
