Camper special ??
I have a 76 F-250 camper special ranger package, full time 4, now a 390 (had the 360), c-6. My question is why call it a camper special and at the same time the owners manual says it's not recomended to carry a camper. So why call it a camper special?
BTW, this hasn't kept me from carrying a camper on the truck, and it works just fine. This is just a question that has been floating around in my head for a long while and just decided to finally ask about it.

The "Ranger" was a trim package. The "Camper Special" was additional wiring for a topper unless a heavier suspension was ALSO installed at the factory. What is the listed GVW ? The "Super Camper Special" was added wiring AND suspension for a slide-in camper = basicly (almost) a 1 ton pickup. I think the "CS" package that included a "box" on the outside passenger side of the bed in front of the rear tire. The "SCS" package had a removeable panel in front of the right rear tire where the spare tire went.
