Hello , I have a 1986 f150 5.0L fuel injected with problems .First I put the wrong fuse in the courtesy slot and proceeded to smoke the 20 amp fuselink going to the ECM relay .Now I've replaced the inline fuse link and the ecm relay but everytime I turn on my key I blow the 20amp inline fuse , I have even tried changing the fuel relays to no avail when the key is on the fuel pumps dont prime the key chime dosn't work . I can manually hookup the primary pump and get it to to pressureize but the truck still won't start and there is no sound from the other two tank pumps and I know they worked before. Any Ideas.
Did you replace the fusible link with another proper sized fusible link? Or did you put the 20 amp inline fuse in place of the fusible link? That won't work.
Well just to let you know I got it to start and run again , did rather well for three times then it just dies all over again . The only difference is the inline fuse isn't blowing , I noticed when changing the fuel filter it was able to run in either direction is this normal now for fram filters . Also the fuel was gray looking when i poured it into my hand. Could the internal fuel tank pumps be going bad if so is it easier to drop the tanks or remove the bed to gain access to the top of the tanks, remember this has plastic lines.
