Can anyone tell me, or tell me where I can find, the peak torque RPM specs for a 1982 400 2-bbl? It's in an Econoline box van; C6, 4:10 rear end (and calibration 9-74J-R12 if anyone cares). I can only find these figures up to 1980 (when I guess they stopped putting the 400 in cars). The only thing I can find is in Chilton's, where they list it for 80-82 as 296 ft.lbs @ 1600 rpm. That seems like low revs for peak torque, almost like a diesel. Especially since the specs for the previous years seem to be 260-275 at 2000 RPM.
The purpose of this is to get a replacement for the torque converter, since I can't locate any information on the stock stall speed for the converter either. If Chilton's torque figures are correct the converters that have been suggested to me would stall way too high.
It doesn't seem like this info would be so hard to find. Any suggestions?
Many thanks..
