1.) So I keep hearing about getting to plugs on the top of the tranny for some reason, yet the drain and filler plugs seem obviously easy to get to on the side of the transmission. Why are people trying to get through the cab floor to top plugs then?
2.) Has anyone found magnetic Plugs to replace the stock ones? (speaking of which, NAPA just sold me the wrong sized oil drain plug today... that was pleasing to find out.)
I want to protect the tranny, and smooth out shifts, so I'm planning on using something like a synthetic ATF, synthetic 5W-30 motor oil, or a synthetic manual trans. oil. whatcha think?
The 3 plugs that have been discussed in the past are in the top cover. They are the plugs at the end of the internal shift rails. The factory plugs tend to dry up and leak. So, it is advisable to replace them.
