Hey guys it feels like I am running in circles with my egt's. I am one flat up on the ip. It has the same custom intake on it as when I bought it. The intake empties right over the vacume pump. (to hot?) I had a downpipe that was 2 1/2" then turned into 3 1/2" with no muffler. Today I was pulling a small hill on the way to the muffler shop I was running 800 degrees at 60 with the cruise on. I had the muffler shop change the downpipe from 2 1/2" to 3" (with the stock clamp). After I got it back I ran the same hill with the cruise on and the egt's are now 850-875. What the heck is going on? I had the air conditioner on the second time - would that make a difference? My headpipe did wonders for my boost!!!! I am running 10 psi but gets there in a hurry now
well i really dont know but my truck is still n/a and my fuel is up almost2 flats and i dont run into egt trouble even towing up a 7% grade, i have ram-air intake and daul exaust and i can get right to the limit but not go over
The hot air from under the hood is not helping any.
But also looking at "auto" in your equipment and 60 MPH as a speed and then calculating your RPM was 1900 if you have a 4.10 axle or 1650 if you have a 3.55.
I think you need to drop a gear to lower EGT's.
But by the same token, if your thermocouple is in the exhaust manifold, 800 or 850 is nothing to worry about.
And yes, with the AC on, the air coming through the radiator will be warmer than it was with it off, so the EGT will be higher.
