hi i recently got a 82 f150 4x4 and was wanting to do a solid axle swap out of a 79 d60 or d44. what would be involved to do such a swap? will it be as simple as bolt in or is more modification needed?
Thanks, Brad
The spring spacing on the 77/79 is narrower and it's not bolt in.
You would have to make custom mounts for the springs.
Your best bet for a bolt in deal is to get a D60 from an 85.5 to 97 truck. They are all the same and will bolt in without any mods assuming you have everything from the donor truck.
Clearly you don't have a clue on what's involved in swapping out an F150 with coil springs, to a Dana 60 that was set up for leaf springs.
You could do it either way and I'm not going to spoon feed you on the different possibilities. There is already plenty of reading material readily available on quite a few different web sites on the internet.
