my 2003 f-250 6.0 psd is charging around 13.8 to 13.95 volts and will show about 13.2 volts when i turn all of the lights and blower fan on high. is this about right or not? i have been noticing sluggish starting the last couple of days and im wondering if its my alternator or do i need batteries? i replaced the alternator last year and to my knowledge the batteries are still the original ones. thanks
My truck shows about 14.5 to 14.8 running with lights on. I replaced my batteries last winter, my truck would crank fine but had one battery that was weak I,m not sure if that is what caused my ficm to go out but i have read on here where low voltage could be the source. If you put in new batteries be sure to replace both even if one shows to be good. Also i checked around and found a wholesale battery place that would sell to the public I got two for $120 and they are alot heavier battery than what was in it. If you go by a parts place such as autozone, advance, etc. they will check it out to see if you are charging and check the batteries. If you have the original batteries more than likely you probaly need new ones.
I'd get those batteries load tested at your local auto parts store, and be prepared to buy a couple. Six years is a pretty good run for a pair of batteries on one of these trucks.
thanks for the info guys. i love this truck but its starting to be a headache seems like, does it ever stop.LOL, just put 1200 bucks in it with a flash program and 2 new injectors at the dealership. i run it alot and sometimes hard so i guess it could be worse from all of the stories i have heard on here.

Change your batteries and have your alternator checked. If you still see your voltage droping with lights on or overtime you may have an alternator going south. Mine just did that about a month ago. They bench test the alternator and insist it was fine. I told them to rapair it anyway and then I got my 13.8V always strong and steady.
Also checked the obvious things like dirty conections or damaged wires.
