Today I did what was quite possibly the most redneck thing I have ever done and it was way too much fun. I am midway through restoring my 1986 F150, the bed is off and the cab floors are no longer made of rust. Today I removed the exhaust behind the cat and couldn't resist the urge to fire up the old 300 and see what it sounded like. I LIKED IT! So then my neighbor convinced me to take it out of the garage "so I could sweep under it". Well there is no seat in it right now so I had to look around to find something and I found the perfect solution, a tire off of my old Honda. So I put that in and before I knew it I was laying a patch in front of my house and heading to the end of the dead end that I live on with the open exhaust making it's presence known all the way down and all the way back. The only thing missing was me saying "hey y'all watch this" I may have to just run straight pipes surprisingly it wasn't that loud.

Kinda sounds like when a buddy of mine and I replaced the motor in a Monte Carlo that I had. The motor was a slightly built 400 small block and we fired that bad boy up. open headers in a barn that we had rented to work in. Boy was that sucker loud and it shook the barn...LOL. I did not take it out and run it on the road like that because of the situation that we were in.
I agree completely I am 34 going on 18 I never stopped being a kid. My wife counts me as one of her kids. For me all it takes is a slight suggestion to get me spiraling down the path to childhood again. Honestly though the big six sounds pretty good when you are dumping right out of the cats. I wonder what it would sound like straight out of the manifolds... hmm...
Hahaha today I was at my buddies, got a 78 F-150 with a 460, open headers right now, hes trying to convince me to buy it, lifted big tires, all around awesome truck, got in today, let it rip around the parking lot haha, motor sounds so good!!
It's a proven fact that the only thing mufflers do on a truck is suppress the sound of fun. 460 that sounds like a beast if I wasn't already up to my eyeballs working on the 86 I would think about that one. I really like the 300 that I've got in mine but there is just something about the low rumble of a big block at idle.
