RV Plug Mod

I know I'm not the first. But the is what i did yesterday/today. Tired of the wire smacking the tail gate when pulling the 5th wheel hooked up to the bumper plug. It is now "t"'d off and both locations worked. All soldered connections. Even at the plug. and shrink tubing connections and wire slid through 3/4" heater hose for protection.

Measure 5x's Cut one and cross fingers it fit..

Worthy to put in my Signature? RV plug Mod?

Looks like a great place for it. I,m assuming with 5ers you route the plug all the way in the back, great idea to put it there, reps when I can...

Thanks a bunch.. Spent a few hours yesterday soldering in the wires into the trailer connector harness. Today was Cut the hole.. To high the plug would run into the back of the brake bulb connector. To low and it hit the mount for the tie down strap backing plate. To far to the outer edge you would not plug in the RV plug do to the grab fingers that stick out and would hit the wall. Jeesh. Almost gave up.. But i seen it done on other trucks so i knew it would fit.. Dad stopped over and said "how in the Heck you get that in there?" He looked and thought wow, in either direction it wouldn't fit. Just in that spot it would go in.. Man was i crossing fingers when i Rotorzipped the hole..

Mine was installed in the side of the bed about 1 1/2 ft from the back. I like where you put yours better. Good job

definitely like that location. my truck has it relocated just under the bedrail. nothing but a 4pin under the bumper. luckily my trailer's 7pin is long enuf to go over the tailgate until I get time to fix this. I may relocate mine like yours and add one under the truck.

Looks good, Dan.

Mine's on that side, but at the bottom of the inside edge of the tailgate opening. The RV dealer installed it there as part of the hitch package when I purchased my 5ver. They gave me the hitch, rails. and wiring included in the sticker price.
