ok when im drivng at like 30 mph and i shift it into N and I gas it it kinda makes my car accleorate like its still in gear but then when it drops rpm and I do it again it just revs the engine and doesnt make me acclorate,, can anyone explain why the this,, is there somethinworng with my tranny or is it normall
I'm no trannie expert, but the best I can figure is that with the added stress of you giving it gas it can't release some clutch pack somewhere. It would still be "loosely" hanging on in drive, as it spent a moment trying to release enough pressure to shift all the way out.
If it's a manual trannie, I havn't the foggiest clue.
BTW, why are you suddenly shifting to N when you're going that fast? When ever I come down the pass, I put my truck into neutral, otherwise I have to give it gas to maintain freeway speed. But that's when I want to keep up with traffic coming down the mountain at around 70. The best way I've found to do this is to let it idle in N. If I'm coming down the west side of Snoqualmie Pass I've found that wind resistance conbined with the angle makes for about 75 mph, without gas or brakes.
Well, I've gotten off on a completely different subject, so good luck with your trannie.
