Turn Signal Switch replacement special tool needed
I have a used turn signal switch I'd like to put in my truck. I was reading my 1988 Ford Service Manual and on page 32-41-10 and 11, it shows how to do this job. Now, if a guy has a tilt steering column as I do, it says you have to dissasemble the connector (figure # 14 in the book) that runs through the column on the turn signal wires as you can't get it though the steering column. You don't have to do this on trucks without tilt steering. I had to commit a little faux-pas to the steering column at the trunk in the junk yard to get the switch out. I can't do the same to my truck.
I have no problem dissasembling the connector, but I've never seen the "wire terminal removal tool" the manual talks about. I've seen (and used) them before for serial connections on a computer, but the tool I have for this is way too small for this connector. Anyone know a more common name for this tool and where a guy can go to get one?
I suppose I could just cut the wires and splice them back together, but I really hate doing that when I've got a perfectly intact wiring harness.
Lisle Wire Terminal Removal Tool
I see Princess Auto here carries something similar. It's $18.00, is very well hidden in their catalog, and comes with two tools: one like the Lisle tool above, and there's another specifically for GM cars...they say Pack-con and Weather-Pack terminals....won't be using that one any time soon...this is a Ford only household...lol
