Differential fluid
I have a 82 F-250 light-duty and the rear differential leaks. What weight and kind of fluid do you recommend? Also what kind of sealant would work the best and keep it from leaking again?

80-90 gear lube (assuming non-limited-slip)

If you have a drip on the bottom of the differential, get some on your finger and smell it. It should really stink like it's rotten. If it does, then it is gear oil. But, any small leaks up front will also catch and drip off the diff too, so it could be motor oil or something else.

I put Redline 75w-90 in my Dana 60 rear end. I figured 3 bottles of that was about the same or cheaper than 3 bottles of regular gear oil and a bottle of friction modifier. Plus, there ain't much better in fluids than Redline.
