With all the this vs. that engine, and who gets better mileage, here's my question for the sages of ford-trucks.com.
Would a reg cab get better mileage than the othe cab options? In mind mind it would as it would be a bit lighter than say a Supercab or 'crew. I'm looking at an '09 150 reg cab 4x4 with the 3v 4.6 and 6.5 box.
The lighter the truck, the better mileage. The best mileage would com from a 4x2, single cab, short bed, 4.6 3v. The worst mileage would come from a 4x4 Screw, 6.5 bed and 5.4.
I average about 15.5 MPG (hand calculated) with mixed driving.
I'm getting 18 mpg city 20 mpg highway on a 4.6 3v 8' bed regular cab. Regular cab is about 500 lb lighter than extended cab and my most likely guess why I'm beating the epa numbers in the city.
