99-04 / 05-07 Compatability
Hey guys, I tried doing a search but I couldn't find what I needed (gotta love that search function). I'm looking to pick up a factory ford hitch for my truck (99 F350 CC LB) and I found a guy whos willing to sell me the one off of his 06 (same truck).
I'm wondering if this hitch will bolt right up to my 99 or if it will give me problems. To my understanding, there weren't any changes to the frame of the trucks ecept that they beefed them up a little in the 05 year. Better safe than sorry right.
Also I believe the step bars from the 06 trucks should bolt right up to my 99 but if anyone can confirm this for me you will be granting me allot of peace of mind before I make this purchase. Thanks for your help in advance!

Not sure on the hitch. I know the gap between bumper and hitch changed in '05, but can't say if it was the bumper or the hitch or both that actually changed.
But the step bars are the same. But there are 3 lengths for the 3 cab sizes, plus different finishes, so you have to be careful, not to mention running boards.

There was a break in the 04/05 in the aftermarket hitches. It was mostly because of the larger tire/wheels. I put an 99-04 on an 05/6 harly davidson and the spare would not fit back up between the hitch. Which seemed odd to me, because I have a 35" tire between my hitch, but it could be an aftermarket thing.
Steps bolt to the pinch welds which didn't change for the body style.

I actually already threw an 08 Rear bumper on the truck so I know that will definitely bolt up without any modifications. I imagine the hitch would be the same if the bumper worked but I had to be sure. As far as the spare its just a factory 31" tire. I run 35's but I've heard a 31" spare wouldn't make a difference for short drives so I shoudn't have any problems there.
