save our trucks!!!
my concern goes even further beyond the vintage and classic auto areas, i am also concerned about people buying there first car/truck, most young people are buying possibly late 80s and 90s cars and trucks for first vehicles, what if a 10 year ban was imposed? that means of as now, 2005 would be as old as they can go back to get 5 years out of a vehicle, thus the price for a first car/truck will rise, because if they get a 2000 or 2001, they can only run it 1-2 years, thus less people on the road, thus less co2 production thus, they can justify it in there eyes, the poor and the middle class will be effected the most, the rich or elites, can afford to buy a new vehicle every year if need be, but the average person can not,
so everybody think about it from both sides of the table, from my eyes (classic vintage car/truck owner) to the eyes of a young person buying there first ride, many people on here can't even afford a new vehicle from let alone 2005-2007, plus with the way the housing market is, and the economy, why impose such laws? whats there end game? forcing people into what? government control? where they tell you what you can and can't have, and where you can and can't go, trust me its been all done before, Soviet Russia, is a great example,
and again sorry if anyone thinks this is getting political, mind you i have not mentioned any names or party names, thus its not even political, i am just stating facts and history, and the truth, you can choose to listen, or ignore it, just don't complain when it happens, and if anyone wants too know, it is my BUSINESS! and it should be to anyone who owns a 10+ year old car or truck, or anyone who has a interest in classic cars/trucks or plans to own one, my point is when will it end? cash for clunkers seems to be just a taste of what they have planned, the same countries that now have 10 year old auto bans, also had cash for clunker programs before the bans, so think that over, its not rocket science 2+2=4

i have no quarrel with Americans either, many of my friends are American, and i have the same amount of problems with Canadians as i do Americans, neither is better and neither is worse,
and where i live, Americans can be North of me! (besides Alaska) Google map London Ontario, its as north as Port Huron, Michigan, and Buffalo New York, actually we are almost right between them, where almost as south as you can get in Canada,
and cheers my American brothers!

Our '91 F350 is so terribly eaten up with rust (not a native OK truck, obviously) that I can't see the point in trying to fix it up. The body and frame are fading fast, and we were figuring on just driving it 'til it gave up (which appears like it could be sooner than later), so $4500 or even $3500 for it would be great to us. Same thing could be said for our '94 Grand Cherokee, except it's problem's not rust, just 200,000 hard miles. $3500 or $4500 for it would be even better - at least the F350 has some value as a parts truck. I guess getting to trade 2 for 1 would be too much to ask for.
So actually my main question is what about the F350? It doesn't show up on the lists, I guess because it never had an EPA mileage rating. Does this mean it's not eligible? I was hoping someone here might know. I plan on checking with my local dealership, but I'm not really counting on them knowing for sure.

I just logged on today and found Fords banner ad on the home page about it - appears that our F350 is eligible, for $3500 off a new super duty, at least. Was really thinking more about a Ranger for our 16 year old son, but we'll just have to see... Maybe the Jeep will work on that if not the 350.

Hope it works out for ya.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
The one thing people seem to forget about stuff like this is that it's all voluntary. You're not being forced to do this if you don't want to, and in fact there are only a limited number of people that will be able to claim the money.
Good deal for some folks, not so much for others. Do your research, make your decision.
Take the rest and buy an alarm clock, as you have obviously been sleeping for months as this program ended long ago....

$4500 was way too much. I'd have done it for $1000. Why turn down the money? I paid it in and am still paying and would be anyway. I got some back for once.
I prefer to stand on my own 2 feet. I'll buy my own truck with cash. Then I owe thanks to no one.
