So a couple of months ago, on my way to work early in the morning, my truck randomly went into Fail Safe on the freeway. Then, a couple weeks ago it did it again, and a week later one more time. It does it randomly and usually when i take my foot off the accelerator. If I pull over, and restart the truck, all is fine and the problem goes away. My Edge does notify me of 3 DTC though:
P2104 Throttle actuator control system - forced idle
P2111 TAC system - stuck open
P2112 TAC - stuck closed
Anybody else having these issues or know any possible fixes? I'm well out of warranty, so taking it to the dealer is a last resort.
If none of those fit your problem, it sounds like a throttle body or TPS problem. I'd suggest checking the throttle pedal assembly for any problems in the cab, hopefully a loose connector could be found at a cost of zero. Failing that, inspect all the moving parts in the engine compartment for any stiffness, lubricate where necessary.
If it still happens, replacing the TPS is the next step I'd try.
Run your truck on the stock tune and see if you can replicate the problem, this way you can take the edge off the list of possible causes. You might also try updating your edge with the fusion software. Edge improves the stock level settings from time to time. My truck will sometimes go into FS as well, but its usually because I was messing with the settings.
I had the same problem on my '04 a couple of times shortly after installing the edge. Same codes as well. I cleaned the MAF senser with Q D contact cleaner. Cleaned the Throttle body with a lint free rag and some carb cleaner (did not pull the TB). Cleared the codes. It has been fine for about two months now.
