it bolts to the back of the air pump.that last picture is a check valve the supplies air to the exhaust.looks like it's rotten, and probably leaks as well.some one here knows how what size bolt you need to cap it off.and yes before you ask it's not doing anything, remove it.unless you need it for smog checks,it could get costly to repair.
thanks, that answers it for me haha
i don't have any smog to worry about, and i was going to take it off because it is leaking and it's driving me insane.
should I try my luck at a junkyard? or try to find a way to seal that one up
ther is a lagre bolt that will screw in there.just can't remember what size.or you can thake the tube off and put it on backwards with new gaskets, and will seal off the hole.cut the tubes off to.
We usually put allen head set screws in there to block them off, or you can just go to your hardware store and get some 1" long bolts and use them. Put some locktite on them to prevent them from falling out.

Just take it off and flip it side to side and it will put the blaoked side agins the holes and bolt it back on
Thanks for the info.
I got tired of the sound, and im going to have to soak that for a few days haha, its rusted and stuck on there pretty bad.
so until then
2 dollar fixes
hooray for muffler repair kits haha
sounds so much nicer
Anyone have a recommendation for a top of the line penetrating fluid?
Mass used to test all 84+ for smog on a dyno but now they only sniff OBDII. The inspector is supposed to check visually that all emission components are installed and operating and the MIL/check engine light is out.
One of the dumbest things the car companies ever did was install the air tubes into the cylinder heads. Its prone to failure and it has a minor effect on emissions vs adding air at the converter. I had to swap heads on a 350 that didn't have the holes for the tubes and just used the air tube to the converter. My sniffer test was slightly lower than the previous year.

One of the smartest things the car companies ever did was install the air tubes into the cylinder heads, because once these failed...usually well after the warranty had elapsed, they could sell 1000's of new ones.
FACT: All the automakers are REALLY in the parts biz, where over 75% of their real profits come from.
If parts last forever, no profits for automakers...it's as simple as that.
