Post How to Choose a Nitto Grappler Light Truck Tire

If you're in the market to buy new tires for your truck or SUV, there are a lot of tires to choose from. Not only is the marketplace crowded, but most manufacturers make more than one style that will fit your vehicle. So which do you choose? Well, that depends on what you plan to use your tires for. There are a few things to consider, such as off-road and on-road performance, load rating, M&S rating, noise and ride comfort, looks, and expected mileage to name a few.

Nitto has taken some of the guesswork out of buying tires by explaining what each tire in its Grappler lineup was designed for.

Mud Grappler Extreme Terrain
The Mud Grappler is the most extreme of Nitto's offerings. Off-road, the Mud Grappler can crawl rocks or handle mud and dirt. The sidewall has large side lugs and was constructed with three sidewall plies to help prevent sidewall punctures. With all of this off-road performance, you'll sacrifice some ride comfort and hear more tire noise.

Dune Grappler Desert Terrain
Off-road, the Dune Grappler is best suited for sandy trails or dunes. The tread pattern and large contact patch was designed to float over the sand and loose gravel. To do this, the engineers reduced the siping on the tread blocks. This creates a wider, flatter contact patch. On-road, the tire provides a smooth and quiet ride. Some of the sizes are available in an E load rating, which is important if you'll be carrying a heavy load.

Terra Grappler All-Terrain
If you're looking for a tire that offers a balance of wet and dry performance, on-road and off-road, the Terra Grappler is the tire for you. The Terra Grappler has deep sipes and lateral voids that not only channel away water but they provide grip and traction on a variety of terrains. The Terra Grappler was rated #1 by a leading consumer magazine for its balance of wet and dry performance.

Dura Grappler Highway Terrain
The Dura Grappler is designed as a multi-purpose towing tire. For those who carry heavy loads or tow heavy loads, the Dura grappler provides excellent treadwear life under these conditions. The Dura Grappler has some light off-road performance, but the tire really excels on pavement. All LT spec tires are E Load rated. Select sizes are backed by a 45k or 60k limited treadwear warranty.

All of the Nitto Grapplers have one feature in common: each tire has two different sidewall designs, one on each side, so you are able to choose the design that faces the road.
