I have a '93 f350 7.3 IDIT diesel with a 5 speed manual. As you know, the clutch pedal has to pressed down to turn the ignition. My problem is that I have to really jam the pedal to the floor to get the ignition to turn over. Also, my clutch seems a little stiff and it engages really low. If I let off the clutch just slightly, like while at a stop light, the clutch will begin to engage. I have to hold the pedal all the way to the floor board to keep the clutch from engaging while at idle.
Jackson,
The 7.3 diesel trucks have a dual mass flywheel that is notoriously failing prematurely. Ford recommends the dmfw be replaced when the clutch is. Your symptoms indicate a worn out clutch. The problem you will incur is the dmfw from Ford is about 1000.00 dollars plus another 300-400 for the clutch. Luk has an excellent replacement kit out that does away with the dmfw, increases your torque capacity, creates a much smoother softer pedal and best of all is alot less money.
