disassembly time
It is a SURVIVOR.....and for it to get torched just to get it 400 miles....or to your new home,Stephen would be a sin.
Boley has a good idea.
That compressor will pay for the tow. Too many kids today just want to cut up and DESTROY a truck that is a great piece of history....and once you do get it home....will marvel over how nice it is.
Do some homework and find a good way.
In the mean time, I remain frustrated without having anything to work on, lol.
Even if I got $1000 for the compressor, it would still take $400 to get out there and back, not to mention the amount of effort required to get it off, its 4,000#s, I'd need a serious lift. Even 20 guys couldn't safely take that off, and I only know 2, lol.
My ideal is to trade it for a F-100 or F-250 at the max. I have a pretty good idea what my F-600 is worth, but I would like to hear what everyone else thinks. Thanks.
I would buy it in a minute, but have my share and am going to invest in a musce car.
I hauled my first truck home on a 20' deckover, and the 2 in Mass. on a 18' carhauler ..but 1 was in pieces.
Is it in the mountains or on flatland? Anyway, keep a level-head and hink this through....and you will have a nice ole 56.
Maybe you have AAA and they would give you a break......just wondering.
Good luck to you.
Right now it's the flatlands. Its in Butte and Butte is surrounded by mountains (well, maybe more like long hills), so I'd have to drive it up and down a couple and I just don't trust the tires for that, plus I have yet to critically test it and then is not the time to do it. Something will work out, always does, I'm a patient man, lol.
What muscle car you looking to build?
Stephen.....if you drove the truck home.....go slow and have someone follow......should work. Bill
My dad had a '69 Roadrunner, and he traded it in for a '71 Barracuda Grand Coupe....which then was sold to buy the '78 F150 I have. I've been looking at Either of these cars, and most certainly out of my price range. So I decided to go to my mother's history of vehicles, and am now searching for a '69 AMC Rebel....a little easier on the pocketbook. A muscle car, old hot rod, and a couple trucks, and I'll be content. Yeah I know,
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Part of my problem is that I am also moving at the end of the summer, I already have a lot to do and 16 hours on the road, (about 11 going slow with that truck on the way back) would be exhausting. If it breaks down on the road I'm completely fubared, it be like $1000 just to have someone tow it back to the nearest town, and then I'd have to figure something out with where to keep it. Right now it's safe. But even if something worked out and I did get it back, I still have a truck that I feel is too large for daily driving, I would have to do a chassis swap on it and since it's a survivor, that just seems wrong. Not to mention once the cost of moving it twice is added in, it starts to become a hassel for me and in the end I'm left witha truck I'd still sell to get what I really wanted.
Thankfully the guy didn't put the title in my name, so I have an open title, so I can sell it without having to go back out there, again thats at least $350 for me to just go out there. What a pain in the ****.
The right buyer will come along and I'll find something that suits me better. I don't want to force this truck to work out.
