Grille ideas

Anyone have an interesting grille ideas? Pics?

Just brainstorming, I sort of want to do something different with my grille but I'm not set on a direction yet. Stock is nice on the '56, but there is a part of me that feels there is an idea out there I would like better. Doesn't have to be on a '53-56, heck doesn't even have to be on a Ford. Just looking for inspiration.

Has anyone ever done a phantom grille? (bars that cover the whole area, even the headlights. Usually this requires some modding, but depending on how you go it could even look like a '68 RS/SS Camaro front, basicly blacked out)

There was a long running thread about this maybe three months ago with some great ideas and pictures. YOu might try the search and see what you come up with.

I have three grilles for the 51 F1: A stock 3 tooth, a five tooth - which is currently installed; and, a 7 tooth. All have bee rewired the same and have a quick disconnect plug for the headlights.

I also brazed the mounting bolts on the backs of the headlight containers so all I have to do to change out a grille is unplug it, undo the 6 wing nuts and drop it down ( I have a full front tilt so I can get back there easily. All three of mine are painted white - that's my second color.

The extra teeth are cut off to fit just on top of the lower valance. You have to be really close to see any gap. And I figure withte way I drive, if any one gets that close to see it they aren't going to be in any shape in a millisecond to rat on me.

1959 Ford Skyliner grille on a 57-60 has been one I've pondered. Maybe one photoshopped onto a '56 would be something to try?

i think a full billet phantom grille would be the coolest thing i've seen in a while!!! i bet you could order two phantom grilles for a old s-10 or mazda b2200 and stack em on top of each other and trim the access. that would rock

lol I could make one, wouldn't be my first Being a blacksmith has it's advantages, lol.

I just think that would look pretty sick on a vintage pickup,if done right of course, lol.

I am toying with the idea of upgrading to HID headlights and saw some in a late issue of CCT that had turn signals built into the bottom of them. I would probably remove the turn signals from under my grille and clean that area up some. I don't think I have seen that done on a 56 yet.

I have seen a photochopped image of a 53, 4, or 5 (I think) with a late model ford mustang grille in it that looked pretty tough.

Interesting photoshop idea, if you come across it again let me know.

One idea that could be cool for blinkers is putting ina LED ring in the head light (not the standard bulb ones, but the halogen ones with a bulb and casing), then you could have a blinking headlight ring, lol. Be pretty clean.
