I am looking at buying a '93-'97 F-350 preferably with a 460. Does anybody know what tranny and t-case these came with. I have heard that they come with the same E40D and borg warner 1356 that are in my bronco and F-150. Are these strong enough to put up with the mass amounts of torq that the 460 puts out or should I be looking to upgrade to a possible C6/NP205 combo.
Theres just something about a 460 and 1-ton running gear that I gotta have.
The C-6 was an option right up to 1996. The NP205 was eliminated in 1979.
I'm building a 1994 Bronco with one ton drive train. Dana 60 front, 10.25 rear. The 460 is from a 1970 lincoln, the trans is a C-6 with extra low 1st gear and extra clutches, and the t-case is a NP205 'rock crusher'
I have a F350 w/BW1356 transfer. It is going out (jumps out of gear, difficult to get engaged, slips in reverse) for possibly the second time in 250,000 miles. The case gasket is of the silicone variety telling me that it was dissassembled before. I was thinking of going to a NP271 which is the newest transfer case for F250-F550 trucks. It's supposedly built for up to 18,000 or so GVW's. But it has different dimensions and would require a transfer case mount from a similar vehicle.
