my truck is a 88 f-150 4.9six when i tuned it up i changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and fuel filter. the truck doesn,t skip at idle only cruising speed .thanks in advance
If It is a little 2"x2" flat plactic plate then it is part of the alarm system. It is hooked up to the alarm system on my truck and it drove me nuts until i traced the wires back to it.Unforturnity when i got my truck it did not come with the remote to turn it on and off.But if you have one try it .if not then we are in the same boat.If you can get one let me know.
good luck
Jim
i tried pullin the code with the plug under the hood and running a wire to the battery and usining a test light but the check engine light doesnt blink out the codes and i dont know why so i gave up on trying
You don't need to run a wire to the battery, or even the test light. All you need is the jumper wire between the signal return and the self-test input. The CE light will blink the codes at you.
A much easier way is to buy a code-reader. I have an Innova 3145 and it makes reading codes super easy.
