i have an '87 F-150 with a c6 auto tranny in it, the t-case is a borg warner 13-56 and needs to be rebuilt, but i thought well if i need a new one any way why not get a np205 for the strength. so my question, will the np205 bolt up to my c6 and what problems might i run into if any.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-Feb-02 AT 10:09 PM (EST)]yes you can bolt a c6 to a 205 there are several things you need to find out
1 is how long is the shaft comming out the back of your tranny they made three different lengths .
2 you will need to find out if the tail shaft is the right size and have the right number of splines when i say size i mean the diameter
i have a adapter in my garage it is 5 3/4 inches long so measure the output shaft on your tranny measure from the back of your tranny where the adapter bolts to the end of the tailshaft if it is about
8 inches or so you have the short shaft
also you should measure your transfer case from the tranny flange to the end of the tailshaft a 205 is about 11 1/2 inches without the rear
yoke hopefully they match so you won't have to cut and strech drivelines
if you need the adapter i have and cant find one reasonably localy write me i will sell you mine real cheap i hate automatics e-mail at wwromeo(No Email Addresses In Posts!) hope i covered everything

after thought if you buy an 205 be sure you get the frame mount and bushing this transfercase is very heavy try putting one in by yourself this mount/bushing will save you alot in motor mounts
yes, i think that you covered it all, im gonna get a 205 now. i also need to get my tranny rebuilt so while im gettin that done ill get the tcase stuff done too. thatll work out great. email me at mgbolton(No Email Addresses In Posts!) if you ever sell that adapter, sounds like ill probably need it but not sure yet, ill get back to you on that later. o where do you live just in case i do need it. thanks
