I know I saw somewhere on this forum about aftermarket parts and their affect on warranties/extended warranties. I apologize. However, w/o a search function, the topic does not jump out at me just by browsing.
How does adding an aftermarket suspension and/or differential gears affect a warranty?
Usually the only way that doing any mods like that affects warranty is if what you did causes a problem. For instance if you had a lift kit and took the vehicle in to get an engine oil leak fixed it shouldn't matter. If you added a supercharger and the engine blew up it probably wouldn't be covered.
I would verify which warranty you are talking about.. ie original factory or extended etc.. then you can figure out based on the coverage you have on which part(s) of the warranty you would be voiding. Rule of thumb is if you make a modification to any component which is warrantied explicitly, then you have potentially voided that plus any other residual affected component. beleive me, the dealer will tell you that you are SOL. Be very weary of mods.
I thought my 2003 6.0 warranty had no deductible. I understand there is a deductible on the "extended" warranty that the owner may purchase, but the new truck warranty has no deductible. Am I right?
No deductible for the 3yr/36K. The extended warrenties have a no deductible option for more money upfront, but most people take the $50 or $100 deductible option.
Do a seach for Magnuson-Moss Act. This is the the consumer law that states that warranties cannot be voided due to the addition of aftermarket parts. However, as stated above, if the aftermarket item caused the failure the factory warranty will not cover it.
