why does my vent hose on my 95 F-150's rear axle puke out fluid after riving on the highway? the hose is about two and a half feet long and is attached right to the bottom of the bed. Thanks for any help.
your axle might too full on gear oil, take off the top bolt on the axle and stick your finger in it, if the oil touches your finger it should be fine. you might want to go ahead and put new oil in it, to do this take off the diff cover and let all the oil drain, put a new gasket on and then put the cover back on, fill it back up till its at the hole that the bolt is at.
try to see if the hose is clogged or somethin, i dont know how that would make it do that but thats all i could think of as a reason that it might be doin it cause it might not be venting good enough.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-Feb-02 AT 08:42 PM (EST)]do you live in a cold climate /goes from below zero to above freezing?
if yes,you could be expierencing thermal expansion of the rear lube.
I would also make sure that your rear wasn't overheating due to tight
clearences within the rear.also chk the rear with a hand held temp
chkrto see if it is overly hot.
I would change the lube an see if it continues also.
Fill only up to the bottom of the fill plug!

i did replace the hose. And i do live in a cold temp. area, wisconsin. The rear end doesn't seem to be getting very hot at all. Should i fill it a bit below the hole to combat overflowing????
