Who has a tweecer and how user friendly is it? In the past i have used the Speed brain not sure if it exist any more and the Anderson Ford programer. The tweecer looks way better than these 2. Just looking for some real world expirence.
Yea that is what i have heard maybe some one will chime in that uses it pretty often and give some real world feed back.
Hey Brad what have you got done to that Lighting? You know back in the day the stang i have now i bought from a friend, we meet at the bank. And he bought a Lighting just like yours that was repo at the bank. He had it for about a year and let his brother drive it and he totaled it. To this day that truck is still setting in a field with weeds growing all over it last time i seen it.
Right now all i have done is A CAI, underdrive pullys, Full Bassani exhaust+ headers, and Punisher valve body. Have a Vortech waiting to go in that too(head unit needs rebuild)
The Tweecer hardware is solid but the software leaves a lot to be desired. Furtunately there are other options, Binary Editor runs seamlessly with the Tweecer hardware, has impressive capabilities, and provides more detail and info about all the different tuning parameters right on the main page.. no need to look it up in a pdf. It does a whole lot of stuff the Tweecer SW doesn't do at all.. calculates HP and TQ, instantaneous and average mileage, will do direct comparisons of 2 or more bin files and highlight the differences, and shows in realtime what part of a 2D table the EEC is accessing. How well you can make a motor run is directly related to how well you understand the EEC, and I can't say I'm even close to knowing half of it yet, but it's still remarkably easy to make adjustments that produce noticable improvements with these tools. I just need to build a laptop stand for my truck now so I can drive around without it sliding all over the cab.
Of course it ain't perfect, the tuner reverts to the computer's stock tables when you update the flash, so if the motor is running when you do this it will be affected and my even stall depending how far your tune is from the factory stock parameters. It also only allows 16 parameters to be data logged at a time, so you have to pick and choose those that you really want to see. And it doesn't allow a bin file to be updated while the realtime dashboard is running, so there is some juggling that has to be done.
Yes... it's been great for me, but I have no experience with the other tools out there so I can't make a comparison.
From what i am seeing and hearing. On my end trying to compare the tweecer to the Anderson Ford programer thats on a stang in my back yard. Would be like comparing an Atari to a playstaion 3. And it cost 2 times the tweecer. I believe you just sold me on it. Thanks
I am goin to get one for my Lightning. Every one On NLOC uses it and is thrilled guddy
Many GEN 1 owners use it because there are few alternatives, NOT because they're thrilled with it; some have dumped it in the end because there is a bit of a learning curve. It's relatively effective though if you have some patience.
I opted to use SCT software, several years ago instead; it has more control over the ECU and came with help files and tuning strategies to help the end user understand aftermarket tuning.
Or you could get a custom chip burned for it . If you can find a good tuner , they put your truck on a dyno & find out what it likes then set your air fuel ratio , idle , timing curve , remove or reset rev & speed limiters . If its an auto they can set all the up & down shifts & adjust TQ converter , then they burn a chip for you . It cost me 600 bucks but was worth ever penny. Just a thought ... Lew
If I buy a tweecer for my 96' f150 5.0 eec w/ OBDII and then switch to a late model mustang 5.0 eec from a junkyard adventure, would I be able to use the tweecer for the new eec from the mustang?
Just trying to figure out the order to do my computer upgrades in.
You can use the TwEECer with OBDII vehicles. I have the RT version in my Mustang and have been very happy with it. There is a learning curve but it is a very powerful tool.
