Sway
My '01 F-350 has been progressively getting worse over the last 8 months. At times it feels like your driving on ice there is so much sway. I jacked up the front end last week to inspect everything. Everything in the front appears nice and tight. I have newer front bearings and seals, and new leafs installed this last year in the front. Ball joints seemed tight as did the steering.
When towing, the problem is even worse, or so it seems. One odd thing is, it doesn't seem to be as bad when its cooler outside. I towed the camper this past weekend and on the way there it was white knuckle driving. On the way home, we left in the early morning so it was cooler and the sway wasn't nearly as bad.
I had new tires installed a couple weeks ago. I don't think they are the problem as the sway was present with the old tires as well. I'm running 60psi in the fronts and 70psi in the rear.
Anyone have any ideas as to where to look for problems? I'm pretty sure my shocks are shot. That's my next plan of attack. I'm hoping that will fix it but I thought I'd try and get some more suggestions. I think I'll also replace the sway bar bushings. They don't look bad, but I'm sure they are the originals.
Thanks,
JEV
