Ford Extended Warranty - Genuine Ford ESP
If this is the case I don't really see the coverage being worth it(famous last words when my trans or A/C kick out next week out of spite). I was quoted quite a bit more when I went to the dealer a month a go where the original owner purchased this truck. Something like $3500 or so but 72 months/100K miles. Adjusting it down on the mileage but keeping the 84 months(I do not see driving 100k miles in 4 years) I get to just over half that price with enhanced rental.

How is "Covered Years" calculated?
How is "Covered Miles" calculated?
<hr size="1" width="100%" align="center" noshade="noshade">
The method used to calculate Ford ESP is as follows:
- The new Ford ESP coverage period is measured from the Ford New Vehicle Limited Warranty Start Date and at 0 miles. To illustrate, let's assume your vehicle was purchased NEW on January 1, 2000, with 0 miles on the odometer. We'll also assume your vehicle came with a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty.
For this example, you purchase an ESP plan labeled as 7 years or 100,000 miles of coverage. The "7 years" is calculated from the original "NEW" purchase date of your vehicle – January 1, 2000. Purchasing this plan would extend your coverage through January 1, 2007.
The mileage is calculated from 0 miles, when your vehicle was purchased new, to the time you reach 100,000 miles on your odometer.

it's only with aftermarket Warranties that you get coverage starting from the point you bought the Warranty...not from the vehicle purchase date when new/0 miles
but at least they are willing to offer the warranties. And the pricing is still cheaper than anything you can find aftermarket that is reputable...and it will have better coverage.
IMO though, only get the Ford ESP. anything else, and you'll most likely be left wishing you had never heard of the other company. And hopefully they'll even cover the repairs.
there are lots of shady places out there who use every excuse to avoid payout

I am still thinking not to get the extended. I pull my plugs now and swap them with the one piece by Champion or Brisk that saves me that worry for the most part. Just pull them at another 50k and pop some more back in and by then maybe a few other brands will be out...

I really treated my 98 like I stole it. Only had a transmission as by big gotcha repair back when Rita came thru the Gulf(happen to have an 04 or 05 F-150 as a rental then
). Besides that MAF, intake issues, batteries, alternator, brakes, and a window motor. Thankfully a buddy of mine helped me with everything but the MAF and transmission. The little 4.6L in there treated me better than I treated her. Never touched the plugs and it had 144k miles when I sold her.
I think I am going to play with this truck some and enjoy the freedom of not violating an expensive warranty. A warranty that I could get a jerk of an inspector and deny my repair claim anyways...
