C6 FE block Tranny help

I have a couple questions for all you Ford Experts out there. I am thinking about buying a C6 that is coming out of 72 F-350 2wheel drive truck. powered by a 390 CI motor. is this a regular C6 3 speed. being out of a big F-350 is there any diffrences to the Tranny then a regular C6.
Second question. is a 429 CI motor part of the FE family. and if so, does that mean the bell housing patern would be the same for it as it would be for other FE blocks. Thanks for the help

1966 F-100 4-wheel Drive front end help

I am trying to rebuild the front end out of my 66' F-100 4-wheel drive. I am trying to find the bushings that go to the front end from the Radius arms. I guess it would be the front bushings of the radius Arms. not the back that bolt to the frame. anybody know were I can find these bushings. and a good website that shows a blow up of the front end with part numbers.

Regular C6, but it may have been rebuilt a couple of times since '72, or maybe it's not a '72. They are all 3 speed and all the same ratios.

429 is NOT an FE, bell housings are NOT the same, 390 FE C6 will NOT fit on a 429/460.

Welcome to FTE

Are these the round radius arm bushings you want?

If so, there are TWO different types.

It depends on the serial number, which is the last 6 digits of the VIN.
------------------------------------------------------------------
1966 F100 4WD: Use before serial number 788,001.

2) C5TZ3B203E .. Front Radius Arm Bushing-Round / 2 3/8" long

2) C5TZ3B203D .. Rear Radius Arm Bushing-Round / 1 3/16" long

Also fits: 1965/75 F250 2WD / 1974/75 F350 / 1969/86 E100/350 (Econoline).

Still available from Ford, most auto parts stores carry them.
----------------------------------------------------------
1966 F100: Use from serial number 788,001.

4) C6TZ3B203C .. Front & Rear Radius Arm Bushings-Round / 1 3/4" long / Obsolete

Also Fits: 1967/77 F100 4WD / 1975/77 F150 4WD.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 132 = 800-543-4959.

PARTS INTERNATIONAL in Farmers Branch TX has 50 = 888-727-0418.
================================================== ==
If the radius arm bushings you want are wedge shaped and fit to the axle housing end:

4) D6TZ3B203A .. Radius Arm Bushing-Wedge Shaped / Obsolete

Fits: 1966/75 F100 4WD / 1975/76 F150 4WD.

GREEN SALES has 52.

PARTS INTERNATIONAL has 50.
-------------------------------------
AFAIK, there is no 1964/72 FORD TRUCK PARTS CATALOG available online.

You can purchase a CD of this same parts catalog from hipoparts.com for around $22.00.

There are 1,961 pages of illustrations, 4,849 pages of text.

This is the same parts catalog I use here on FTE...every day.

The original part number was: C6TZ3B203A which was replaced in 1976 by D6TZ3B203A.

Where did I find the part number? I have 500 Ford parts catalogs, so it took me less than 2 minutes to find the updated part number, which I got oughtta the 1973/79 truck catalog.

Instead of looking at online pictures in some repro parts sellers catalog that might be correct...or might not be...for 22 bucks, you can have the REAL thing.

As stated above in post #5, the 1964/72 FORD TRUCK PARTS CATALOG is available on a CD from hipoparts.com.

Did'ja notice my signature? Since I looked up this jazz in Ford parts catalogs damn near every day from 1962 thru 1997, I have over 10,000 Ford basic part numbers memorized.

When someone asks for something here on FTE from 1928 thru 1996, I can usually come up with the part number within a coupla minutes.

Wink more c6 questions

i have a 71 4x4 with no motor or tranny. i currently have a c6 out of another 1971 camper special 2wd. my question is what size motors will bolt up to the c6 i have. and if i figure that out what size motor would be the best for pushing quite a bit of HP.
i was thinking 428 or 429.. but i dont know the facts and specs

Need to know if the 4x4 is a F100 or F250.

F100s use a mated transmission T case.
F250s use a divorced T case and use a version of the 2 wheel drive transmission.

The FE bell is compatible with a 428
The bell for the 429 is different.

What engine was that transmission behind?
We can't tell you what engines will fit until we know what engine the bell housing fits.

No it was not the original.

The 2 wheel drive FE transmission may or may not work depending on the tailshaft configuration.

Is it a bolt on Yolk type or a slip type?
