Hey guys, I have a 1972 f250 4x4 Highboy Crew Cab- with a 4 speed tranny and a divorced trasfer case. 300-I 6
I need to know what tranny and trasfer case are in it.
I think the tag on the T-case said model 28? Does that ring a bell?
Thanks
Glenn
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-Feb-02 AT 11:22 PM (EST)]Dana Model 28 doesn't sound right. In fact that is used on the allwheel drive Aerostars. I have had a '73 F-250 factory high boy with a 360 and a Dana 20. Ford also used Dana 18's. I know both are cast iron gear driven units. I will make an educated ;-) guess and say you have a Dana 20.
As for the tranny is that a granny low four speed? If it has an aluminum shifter housing it's a NP435, cast iron shifter housing is a BW T-18.
Hope you can find a definite answer. I'd look for some more ID stuff on the cases themselves.
One t-case that comes to mind is the Dana 24. It was used on F-250s until 1973 and it is a divorce mounted unit. Maybe that's what you have. I've been wrong before but I think the Dana 20 is a married unit.
