Swapability
I have a '61 F100 223ci 3 on the tree 2wd regular cab step side pickup. The motor is pretty well shot. I was wondering what other engines would be just a simple motor mount swap and nothing else? I was told you can put any FE engine in with no other modifications. Is this true? Would I have to change the bellhousing or any other major components to do a swap? Any info. would be appreciated.

Only other engine with the 223s bell pattern is a 262 I6. And some earlier I6's from ford
The 292 pattern is not the same, and also requires a front frame mount not present on factory I6 equipped trucks.
To mount a FE an aftermarket engine cross member is required along with a bell housing and a new transmission and mount. The 61 trans will not work as it has no rear transmission mount to support it.
