If its brand new out of the box the surface shouls be fine, sometimes there is a coating of some type on them to prevent surface rust when on the shelf in the box, this can be removed with lacquer thinner or mineral spirits, THEN after its installed and torqued to specs wipe it down with rubbing alcohol a couple of times before installing the clutch setup, do not touch the flywheel surface with your hands after wiping with alcohol as you install your clutch.
