Shudder Shake

Hey there folks.

Figures, i have a trip coming in in a couple weeks and got a few codes that i don't know how to proceed.

I did the 50 cent mod long ago. Checked my connections externally.

Got a weird shudder shake like it was missing a cylinder last weekend while driving home with my 10k camper. Was going 45mph. Booted it to get to 60. Shook like a mother. Went away after that little episode

Been driving it to work just fine. Been running like a champ. Yesterday i was on the thruway and booted it from 70 to 80. Shook/missed again like one of my wheels are going to fall off.. Then went away. Went to dinner with the folks later one and it ran, once again just fine.

Decided to plug in AE got two codes that were not normal. The top two i get when i use my TC lock button when i pull the camper. Bottom two are new. Cleared all codes and tore up the neighbor hood. No codes and ran fine. I noticed a bit more shake at idle.

Oil new syn, new international black CPS.

Any suggestions were to kick it?

Thanks

More snaps of the AE.. I am 90% sure it is not my trans. I am thinking more that my reman #8 injector is junk or or something happened when i washed it about 3 weeks ago. I am clue less reading codes.

Your cylinder contribution looks like mine on my Diablo Predator. I'll be happy to find out what you do.

Doesn't solve my problem but my dad came home yesterday from Florida. has all stock 2000 7.3 psd..

He wanted me to put in his new CPS sensor i sent him. (international). Tossed on the AE and he was faulting #8 also. He has the last recall grey in there. 4.7 he was getting on #8. Little higher than mine. I get to compare stuff now he is home.. Sweet. I was please that his was failing cc also and he had a higher number. But after i tossed in the new sensor his #8 was almost perfect happy. And passed CC.. So now i am scratching my head again. And i have the two episodes of the shakes..

I had a few minutes today. So i did the FPR shim thing. .075 440 cap screw trick. Got my fuel pressure from 55 to 68. What is it good to get to 75? I will do another screw. About .005 per pound. So about .035 longer. So .110 should take it to 75. Abouts... I know spring rate is a factor so if i cut it .1 i should be close.

DADS SCAN.. Does the 2000 come stock with a LL? he wants me to do the 50 cent mod. SO i will get to check shortly.

I guess you really like cylinder 3

Sorry to hear this Dan. 1670 is what I'd be worried about. Readings below 5 on the CCT are in the ok range. Did you do a buzz test to see how the injectors sounded?

buzz sounded ok. It is intermittent problem i guess. The hardest. Electical, Buah. Hate em.

Tomorrow i will go through all the connectors Clean/Check and just see if it comes back. Wonder if i got something wet a couple weeks ago when i cleaned it. Only put on about 100 miles since the wash. I would have thought things would dry in a week in the garage.

Rode around today. No codes or problems. Wierd.

Thanks for the PDF.. I printed it and will run through it tomorrrow.

Cleared codes.
Ran Key on Engine running test. the test ran through high idle. Ebpv with high idle. Loaded up the engine different times.

I refreshed codes and got p1670. So it showed up again and not from driving.. Cleared that and went for drive on thruway. Beating on it trying to get it to studder/miss/shake. Nothing. No code. Ran perfect.. Ran the Key on engine running test again when i got home.. P1670 again. So i will read through what chris put up and do some connection cleaning. If i can figure out what it is asking me to do.. Have to look at it some more.

Could that code be from the Number #8 failure on the cc test?

Thanks.

No, the EF signal means there's a communication error between the PCM and IDM. You need to ohm the wires between the PCM and IDM using the pins in the link above.

2001 IDM pin out

2001 PCM pin out

Update.
Up this morning. Grabbed a coffee and just finished.

Disconnected IDM/PCM/CPS/UVCH,ICP.EBP Sensor. Unplugged every fuse and relay. Squirted in some contact cleaner into the connections. Blew it out with the air hose. Little bit of Di electric grease. Plugged everything back in.

Cleared the p1670. Scan again. No codes. Ran KOER, Buzz,CC tests.. All good. (but of course #8 failed) Scan again. No codes. Went for drive.. No codes..

I must have gotten it. Time will tell. All the plugs looked good but you never know. Fuses/relays looked good to..
